Adoption Update: He's going to be ours!
Well, we took the medical information, the picture, and the video to the International Adoption Center to have it evaluated by the doctor there. She called me to let me know that he looks healthy and developmentally on target. She said his height, weight, and head circumference are perfect. She called him a "good-sized kid" who is "solid-looking." She was amazed that he is walking at 12-13 months because (she said) the average age for kids in general to walk is 15 months and that institutionalized kids often aren't walking at 18 months.
We emailed the adoption agency and told them we want him! They said he's on hold pending our "formal" approval by them ... that takes a few weeks, because they have to make sure that they have all our papwerwork and it's all in the correct format before we can be officially approved.
We have done everything that we can. Now we have to sit back and wait for everybody else to do what they have to do. Citizenship and Immigration has to approve us (that should take 3-5 weeks from now) and then the agency will submit our dossier to Ethiopia and we'll be assigned a court date. That takes about 6-12 months.
His name is Abrehem (AH-(as-in-awesome)-breh-hem) and he is 13 months old. He was born 12 months after Danika was. He's gorgeous. I wish I could post his picture, but Ethiopia doesn't allow public display of their kids.
My son, Abrehem.

Congratulations
I've been thinking lots of good thoughts for you on this one. I'm so happy for you.
I'll keep you in my prayers until your son Abrehem comes home.
Congratulations from me too!
How exciting Danna! How are you going to contain yourselves for 6-12 months??
So near and yet so far...
Oh Danna I hope the time passes fast for you... I think this will probably be the hardest part, knowing that he's there, and you're just waiting for bureaucracy to move! Still, I guess it's there for the protection of the kids too, so that might help you to cool down when you feel like strangling someone for not moving fast enough!
We already know he's beautiful, so we don't need photos yet. Aren't they always gorgeous at that age!!
Kerri.
Wow, Danna.
That's some really great news. Your son is a lucky boy. I can't wait to hear all about his arrival and his adjustment to his new life. Way to go, Danna.
