New thread time!

Yay it's June! I love June for a lot of different reasons -

Focusing on various chores around the house now, but mostly maintaining.
Would like to pick up my hanging baskets for the front today after work if I have time -
I also have to deal with a stupid speeding ticket though, so we'll see -

town for dog food, some people food, bank. Need to run by the school and talk to superintendent for a sec, get him to sign something for me.

My carpets NEED a good shampooing soon. I might just work on some deep house cleaning this week. Lord knows it needs it!

Morning Everyone!
I've decided one of my projects this summer has got to be decluttering! Parts of my house are decluttered, but that clutter got put in other places - like the basement, guest room, etc. I really want to get rid of a lot of stuff! Gotta find a place to take it though.

Another busy day in paradise with scouts, baseball, and dinner thrown in there somewhere -
Maintain dishes and laundry - try to exercise -

Have a great day!
Andrea

Andrea, my house is the same

jennye's picture

Andrea, my house is the same way. Like, little clutter in the main living areas, but the bedrooms and closets, ohboy! And I'm unsure of what to do with it. I'm such a pack rat and hate to get rid of anything (I'll need it as soon as I get rid of it. like, I KNOW if I get rid of any baby stuff that I'll end up with an unexpected pregnancy. LOL!).

Did all my errands yesterday, came home and cleaned up enough for a girlfriend with her three young children to come over for dinner/playdate. Got kitchen and office mopped (just in time for FIL to come in with dusty boots while floor was still wet. So really, what was the point? This is why I hate to clean, it gets undone faster than I can do). I DID clean the kitchen before I went to bed.

Got up the morning and did a mile on the treadmill, then went out and mowed a bit. I think my big project for the day is shampooing the carpets in the living room/dining room, den, and the girls room. They are looking really bad. The garden needs to be weeded, but hoping I can get the girls on that (it's their 4-H project, they should do it, right?).

Yesterday just sucked. All

jennye's picture

Yesterday just sucked. All my plans of shampooing carpets just went out the window when the machine 1)started leaking water/cleaning solution in mass quantities and 2) it wouldn't suck up the water it dumped. Guess it's getting a trip to the Sears repair shop. The goats got out on the girls and I had a fun time trying to rope them and getting them back in their pen, my office chair broke a wheel off.

I DID get the curtains and windows washed in the dining room, the area rug in same room clean (took it outside and washed it with a hose, it's still drying). And got some mowing done (girls got a row weeded. Will try to do a row a day).

I'm going to at least tackle the LR windows today and other zone chores in there. But dang it, I wanted to clean that carpet! Also have more laundry to do. What else is new?

Ihave had back luck with

Andrea's picture

Ihave had back luck with those stupid carpet cleaners too Jenny! Hate that -

Not much to report here - very busy right now with the kids' activities. I can hardly keep my head on straight most of the time. DH is helping with cleaning at home, thank goodness. I would like to clean my br tonight if I have time.

Have a great day!
Andrea

Yesterday's list is now

jennye's picture

Yesterday's list is now today's list. DH decided he needed to go to bigger town for something and took all of us to run some other errands (ds6 needed new shoes, his were falling apart. His foot is now bigger than DDalmost10 as he had to get a size 3). I puppydog eyed my dh to buy me a much wanted video game (yes, for me. Not the kids. Guitar Hero Metallica. I'm in hog heaven!). We were gone pretty much all day.

So, LR windows and decluttering. Was looking thru county fair book and realized that we really need to get crackin' on all of our 4-H projects. So need to find all the project books and set out to accomplish alot of those in the next few weeks. Tonight I have fire dept. meeting.

Have fun on Guitar Hero

Andrea's picture

Have fun on Guitar Hero Metallica Jenny!!

Wanna hear something funny? My DS12.5 wears a size 3!!

This week has been utterly crazy. I am somehow holding my head above water. I was up early this am to send DD10 off to her Albany field trip. So I cleaned my bathroom as long as I was up! One less thing to do this weekend.

I am hoping tonight is low key - I'd like to get some gardening done -
Andrea

Morning gals! Andrea, that is

jennye's picture

Morning gals!

Andrea, that is funny about your sons shoe size! I know that my ds6 is a pretty big kid. He has already outgrown my hat size (actually, outgrew it a couple of years ago!). His best friend is the smallest kid in the class, but they are always next to one another so makes it look even more so on both of them. Actually, the best friend is almost the same height as ds3!

I'll tell you something else funny. My DD12 wears a size 7 womens. She's already in my shoes. If I'm missing anything I go straight to her closet and see what she has stolen. LOL!

Yesterday I zone cleaned a little. First, we did the front porch. It was really stinky since all the sand storms this winter/spring had blown in tons of sand, and the 7 kittens we have decided the piles were a good litter box. So we swept and washed it down good. I also got a wild hair to clean the cooktop and oven, so I stripped all those down, soaked everything in Easyoff and a couple hours later it looks almost brand new. Two loads of laundry done (and 3 folded) as well.

Today I have to make two trips to towns. First to bigger town this morning to take care of some business stuff. Second will be this afternoon to smaller town, must load up the goats and take them to the fairgrounds to be validated (this ensures that the animal you show in the fair is the one you have had all summer. that you didn't just go buy a good looking animal two days before the fair, KWIM?). And since I'll be in the pickup, I WILL take the gas cans with me to fill up.

Morning all!
You have some big kiddos there Jenny!
How many goats do you have?

Hey Lenora! Great to see you come out of lurkdom?
Are you teaching at the same place you did last year?

Busy day today but I hope to get some stuff accomplished:
laundry
gardens
Zone
exercise
tan
bank
blog

Not sure if I will get it all done -
We'll see!
Andrea

Hi Lenora!!! Andrea, just two

jennye's picture

Hi Lenora!!!

Andrea, just two goats, one for each girl.
Big list you've got there. I like the tan part. LOL!

I'm not here today. Again. Off to Lubbock for my niece's birthday party. Be back tonight.

Oh, and I FORGOT the gas cans yesterday. And the carpet shampooer I was going to take to sears repair to get fixed. Dang it.

Morning!

Andrea's picture

Hey , I totally count the tanning part - it's work to lay there, ya know. Unfortunately I didn't even get that done! We had a very nice weekend though with lots of fun stuff. The Red Wings game was fun, sipping beer with friends while the kids ran around the stadium lol!

At work now and trying to figure out a simple dinner so maybe I could do a bit of gardening tonight.

Have a great day everyone!
Andrea

Major sporting events are

jennye's picture

Major sporting events are always fun! I LOVE going to see the Braves play whenever we get to Atlanta. Been a couple years, wish we could go this year...

Yesterday we made it to church. I spent too much time on the computer trying to figure out something that won't work. I DID cook and clean up after dinner (I usually don't fix much on days DH has to work, but this chicken had to be used up quickly).

Today: Kids need to weed another row in the garden (and rabbits have ate an entire row of beans! ARG!). I also hope to get both of my vehicles cleaned out good and vacuumed, and maybe have the kids sweep the barn as well.

And I DID remember the gas cans yesterday and now can mow away! LOL!

Mow away Jenny! I have a

Andrea's picture

Mow away Jenny!
I have a habit of spending too much time trying to "figure things out" on the computer too, or my camera, or cell phone or whatever-

The Red Wings are an affiliate of the Twins, a level below them so it is pretty good baseball - Triple A I guess. It is the oldest franchise in baseball. The stadium is fairly new and is a very manageable size - not a bad seat in the house. Plus, the food and beer rock! Oh, and they are really cute this year.

Did not garden last night due to rain and dinner - I made fish tacos which turned out great -

Have a great day -
Andrea

Hmmm, fish tacos.

jennye's picture

Hmmm, fish tacos. interesting. don't think I could get DH to try that, though. LOL!

Yesterday, we DID get both my truck and expedition cleaned out. Yay! Managed a couple loads of laundry, got both bathrooms cleaned, made some cookies to take to friends house for dinner (dh's at meeting together).

I did some mowing this morning. Need to finish up some laundry and then I want to work on cleaning up the camper. It's not bad, it spent the winter in the barn, so no sandstorms got it. Hope to go to the lake this weekend (even though we have no boat). Need to go buy some life jackets though.

I bet he'd like it Jenny - it

Andrea's picture

I bet he'd like it Jenny - it is basically a fish fry in a tortilla with some condiments. Some people grill the fish. Or maybe he is just not a fish person at all? The lake sounds nice -

I actually did get into one of my gardens last night - it is looking good -

Andrea

Good morning! Guess what!?

jennye's picture

Good morning!
Guess what!? Yesterday I failed to work on the camper because...had to go to town! LOL! DH had an emergency errand he wanted done (developing some pictures at Walmart), and took us to lunch while we were there. Who was I to complain about chinese buffet? LOL!

So today I'm going to clean up the camper, run the vacuum and wash some surfaces, but it really isn't bad. Wash and change the sheets and towels, then the rest is DH's job. As of right now, unsure of destination. To the lake? Or to the mountains? He has 4 days off and this is our ONLY vacation. The lake isn't too far away (1 1/2 hours) and can be done on a weekend instead. Still, unsure. Guess we better make up our minds before we head out tomorrow. LOL!

Also, finish up all laundry, make arrangements for goats to be taken care of while we are gone, check cattle real good, and figure out what we are eating. Goats are my main concern, they have to be fed 2 times a day. The cattle, horses, dog and 8 kittens are all self-sufficient.

Morning Everyone! I'm hoping

Andrea's picture

Morning Everyone!
I'm hoping you are camping and having fun now Jenny!

My plan today is to work in my gardens and get my pots planted finally!
Wish me luck -
Andrea

WHAT!! I'm gone for 4 days

jennye's picture

WHAT!! I'm gone for 4 days and there has only been ONE post!? Sheesh! LOL!

Andrea, hope you got those pots and gardens done. Rabbits have ate all my bush beens and peppers. Shocked(

Had a great time on our vacation. Saw some old friends one night, then went to Mesa Verde, CO and walked all day around indian ruins and saw some amazing scenery (and some that would shock you. It will take 100 years or more for much of the place to recover from forest fires. I took pictures, will share them soon). Really, once we got past Albuquerque most of the scenery was breathtaking (ok, up to Alb. is neat, but I've seen it a hundred times already).

Back from camping, so you know what that means: camper to unload, laundry to do. And about a thousand other things around here to take care of. Won't even bother listing a poda now, but hopefully later I'll come back with a tada later!

Well, you know Jenny, it's

Andrea's picture

Well, you know Jenny, it's just you and me mostly so I didn't want it to look like I was talking to myself! Sounds like a great vacation -

I got all the pots done except one - need to pick up more potting soil. I did 4. They turned out cute - L did one with all different shades of purple. Gardens are mostly weeded - would still like to cut some of my perennials back as they are expanding onto the patio too much - daylilies -

Tonight is busy with scouts, baseball, and rehearsal so we are not having a typical dinner.

Andrea

Morning! Yeah, it's just us,

jennye's picture

Morning! Yeah, it's just us, Andrea. LOL! I bet the flowers look nice.

TADA:
*camper unloaded
*yard watered
*barn swept (girls did it)
*4 loads of laundry done
*cleaned up office/music room
*vacuumed/dusted LR/DR
*kept kitchen clean

And yes, spent too much time on facebook. LOL! It's just so addictive!

Today I need to finish some more laundry, figure bills, run to town and get some groceries and feed for the goats, go to Chamber of Com and enter fire truck in parade this weekend. Oh, run by and pay the boys that fed the goats while we were gone. Will be busy today!

Did I figure bills? No. But

jennye's picture

Did I figure bills? No. But did get everything else done. Yay me! LOL! This morning I even got up and cleaned windows and glass door in the office (DS3 made some pretty swirly mud pictures on them last week).

Today: bills. Also want to have DH look at one of the old pens for me, see if it's good enough for the goats with a little fixing (which the kids and I can do today). Doesn't have water, but girls can haul it over there in buckets.

I'm also concentrating on the kitchen this week. Right now I have a sink full of glasses soaking in vinager so they will be sparkling and clear again (darn hard water we have. I do this about every 6 months). Going to do the dishes next. They've never been soaked before, and have had them for 15 years (wedding gift). Look horrible! May even move fridge, washer and dryer (different room, but same floor) and clean all under/behind those.

Andrea, you out there? Not

jennye's picture

Andrea, you out there?
Not much flying in the house. I did do 2 miles on the treadmill this morning, took a shower, did hair and makeup, then decided to mow. Surely on a riding mower I wouldn't get all dirty, right? WRONG! It was so dusty, I am filthy! I'll take another shower before I go to bed.

Nothing really to report, but I was proud of my 2 miles in 30 minutes.

I'm here! Great job on the

Andrea's picture

I'm here! Great job on the treadmill. I wish I had one of those - maybe it would help me get my butt in gear. How did the vinegar work?

Well, let's see - recovering from going out last night. Our village had an art stroll and concert in the park. We met friends down there for dinner and then "strolled" to the concert - it was a good time. Today was supposed to be a baseball day, but we may be rained out. So I have a short poda - hopefully I will get it done.

We splurged and bought new appliances last week - loving them! They are stainless steel and look great -

See ya!
Andrea

Sounds like a fun night,

jennye's picture

Sounds like a fun night, Andrea! Don't you love the stainless?! I did my microwave, cooktop and dishwasher in a stainless/black combo. Helped it go with my black oven (which is 7 years old, had to get it when we moved here). I still have a white fridge, though. They do show fingerprints a bit, though. Use a stainless cleaner that might have come with them.

I didn't do the treadmill this morning. No time. We are fixin' to head out the door to be in a parade in town (celebrating it's 100 years). We will be on two different floats, me with most of my children on top of a fire truck, and DD12 on another with the high school and JH cheerleaders.

Oh, and the vinager worked great! All the dishes and glasses look like new!

Hijacking

lgunnoe's picture

Hi Jenny! Hi Andrea! Hi Lurkers!

Well, I think I'm mentally "home" for a while. Finished the school year (lost my job) so I have to add "find a job" to my Summer PODA. This week-end was the first anniversary of my father's death, so with that, Father's Day, the loss of a position that I loved in a school that I loved... I've been grieving rather heavily for the last few weeks. I'm just letting it hit me when it wants and going with it.

Do you mind if my non-flybaby self hangs with you here? Smiling

Lenora

Hi Lenora! Sorry about the

jennye's picture

Hi Lenora! Sorry about the job! I bet something will open up this summer, always does in your profession.

I've been to town and back today. Tomorrow is DD9s birthday so had to get stuff for her dinner and cake (Speghetti and cheesecake), run to banks, and take a load of pallets to a guy.

Yesterday I cleaned out my pantry good and reorganized. Got rid of a trash bag of stuff (mostly boxes and sacks). Also tackled a couple loads of laundry. Who keeps hiding all my clothes hangers!?

I better go make that cheesecake. tomorrow I'll be on the swather cutting hay.

Strawberry Picking

lgunnoe's picture

....and I can't wait! Two of the teachers from school, one of their friends and all of our kids (ages from my almost 19 year old to 3ish.) Should be fun! Everyone is coming back here for lunch, so I have to get up here in just a minute and make a gallon (or two) of iced tea. I have some marching band paperwork to finish for the director...and always: job hunting. I need to exercise in there somewhere, too.

PODA
Quick tidy of house
Make iced tea and lemonade
Gather up extra kiddos
Meet group at 10:15

Pick berries
Lunch here

Exercise
Band paperwork ~ stuff envelopes and create address labels
check job postings

Happy Birthday to your daughter, Jenny! This is the younger, right? I can't believe she's 9 already!

Love to all,
Lenora

Morning! Strawberry picking

jennye's picture

Morning!

Strawberry picking sounds fun! Wish I had some to make some jam.

DD is 10 today (she was 9 yesterday, Lenora. LOL!). I picked up the house a little this morning, but that will have to do. As soon as DH gets home from work (any minute now), I'm taking the boys to my inlaws (girls spent the night) and I get to go cut hay for the day. Inlaws will come over tonight for birthday dinner (speghetti and cheesecake, what DD10 requested). It's also their anniversary (41 years). So busy day, but no flying.

Hi guys!

julhome's picture

Been doing some decluttering here, too.

My eyes were playing tricks on me, though...kept getting Jenny's and Andrea's posts mixed up. Sure was funny to think that Lydia was four years older than Sam, and that Lydia was also having a cheesecake bday cake, just like Ch'ree, which I already knew from FB! Ugh!

Hey Lenora...so sorry about all the rough times...wanna have lunch? You can vent all over me.

Finally got you all book marked on the newer computer, so see you soon!

Jul

Hi Guys -

Andrea's picture

Hey Everyone -
Lenora - great to see you around here! Of course you can hang here! I am sorry about your job and the continued grieving over losing your Dad. Sounds like a rough time lately.

Hey Julie and Jenny! Two more days left of work - yipee!!

See you -
Andrea

Late Start Today

lgunnoe's picture

...and it feels Good! Smiling
FB me! I'm there.
Julie, I'd LOVE lunch! I can do next Wednesday....or pretty much anytime after July 12 (we're out-of-town in between.)

Andrea, yay on the almost-vacation! Won't you be glad to have some time off?! Just for the record...I put "tanning" on my todo list, too! Folks like Jenny just don't understand how hard us "northerners" have to work for a bit of color! Sticking out tongue
Jenny: She's TEN? No way...

Strawberry picking was great yesterday. We ended up with 16 kiddos and 4 adults. I need to get rolling on my jam today...several people have already asked about it! I had a friend give me mulberries last week so I made jam with those too and gave most of it away.

I need to excavate the depths of the refrigerator and freezer. DH is out-of-town Monday-Wednesday next week, the girls will go to my mom's on Tuesday to leave early Wednesday so I only want to buy a minimum amount of groceries tomorrow...I'll need some fresh fruit and veges, milk and bread. Just enough to get us through the week-end! We may end up with a weird combination of foods but we're eating out of the freezer/'fridge!

I'd like to get a coat of polish on my nails, too. I cut and filed them last night.

So here it is:

PODA

Start laundry
Exercise
Tanning

Make Jam
Continue Laundry

Fridge/Freezer exploration
Meal planning

Afternoon all!

I got 108 acres of hay cut yesterday, then came home after picking up the kids and fixed DD10 speghetti for dinner. Inlaws came over for that and the cheesecake.

Today DD12 had jh cheer practice, but I haven't been doing any flying yet. DID do 2.02 miles on the treadmill in 30 minutes.

I should get off this box and do something. Dang I've gotten lazy!

lllllooooonnnnngggg hot day

helping to train new chocolate delivery driver. BUT, that means Lenora, let's do it right after July 12...I've got an extra big paycheck coming on the 9th!

Thought I was gonna be able to continue decluttering Friday morning, but alas, my brother needs a chauffer, and yes, I sure do owe him! Guess I'll shoot for Saturday morning.

Thursday!

lgunnoe's picture

Jenny...I don't think mowing/cutting 108 acres of hay and then feeding the family a birthday dinner WITH cheesecake and "lazy" can rightfully be in the same post. Good grief girl! Wasn't that enough? Heck, I'd have let that count for at least three days!

Julie, mid-late July sounds great...we'll figure out the details later!

TADA (yesterday)

Everything but the fingernails!

Iron and hide (things for vacation next week. I DO NOT intend to wash and iron them again!)
make-ahead-dinner. I'm going to a moms-and-wines event tonight! (I like that better that "wine-y" moms! Laughing out loud )

Of course: check the job boards!

Slow and easy for me today...I like that!

Love to all,

Lenora

Lenora, I think there is a

jennye's picture

Lenora, I think there is a position open in a school down here. Wanna move to New Mexico? LOL!

I did take most of yesterday to rest, though. I did some weeding out of my closet and probably got rid of about 20 items (mostly huge t-shirts or stuff from high school that still had shoulder pads in them). did a load of laundry, went to and helped with cheer practice.

I've been helping the girls weed the garden some this morning (it's an uphill battle). Told them they couldn't come back inside til it was done. LOL! I did do the watermelons, squash and cucumbers for them. all they have is the tomatoes and corn (rabbits got everything else).

did another 2 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning. I hate running.

Time to figure out what's for lunch. I'm dieting so I get a slim fast. Probably sandwiches for the kids.

hooray...

julhome's picture

My brother got in this evening, so I get my Friday morning back!

PODA:
--decluttering
--and maybe I'll do my toes, too...mini class reunion on Sunday, so maybe I'll wear my dressy flip flops!
--chiropractor
--need to buy kitty litter
--chauffer Gage to his soccer tryouts
--sure would like to fit in a couple hours at the Y pool, but that's probably pushing it!

HI Guys!

Hi Guys -
Going in circles here trying to figure out a plan for the summer.
Today I need to run a few errands plus exercise! DW is emptied.
Laundry of course.
Great to see more faces here!
Andrea

Monday!

lgunnoe's picture

DH left early this morning for a quick trip to CA. He'll be home Wednesday evening. Tuesday is our wedding anniversary...I"m trying not to mind that he has to be gone. It is the first one in 19 years that he'll miss completely (although there was one other that I think he got home about 11:50 pm!) <-- not whining...really.

I have to get (help get) the girls ready for vacation. They're going to TN on Tuesday with my mom. DH and I will meet them there on Friday. So, today is about getting them ready, tomorrow I'll concentrate on my stuff and Wednesday I'll work on the house. We'll drive a little over half way there on Thursday afternoon and the rest on Friday. There is a get-together Friday evening and we want to be there in plenty of time (and with plenty of energy) for that!

I'm having lunch with a high school girlfriend today...and I need to finish up the laundry and do some ironing.

PODA

Exercise
Laundry
Lunch with BFF
Ironing
Finish/check girls' packing
Clean out fridge (it's trash night)
Put out garbage/recycles

Start cupcake balls

Doesn't seem like much of a list, but it will take me most of the day! Right now I'm getting up for one more cup of coffee!

Have a good Monday, friends!

Lenora

Cupcake balls? Is that the

Andrea's picture

Cupcake balls? Is that the cake balls recipe I have seen lately, on Pioneer Woman and other places? Fill us in Lenora. You are busy now - happy anniversary, btw!

Busy day here with shuttling DS12 and 5 of his buddies to baseball camp in the city. They liked it I think and it gave me a chance to run a few errands. Iwas able to fill in my summer wardrobe at my beloved Tar-Jay. I live in short, capris and t-shirts all summer so it was easy. Met a friend for lunch at Uno's and headed home. All three vans stopped at a local ice cream joint on the way back - fun to see 16 boys from our town happily licking their ice cream cones.

Anyway, tomorrow I am home until later in the afternoon so am hoping to work in the gardens and do some odds and ends. Still need to make my master summer to-do list.
