Jamaican-seasoned grilled pork loin, grilled pineapple, ...and something green (haven't decided hot-or-cold yet!)

(I'm on a campaign for at least three (DH) grilled meals a week this summer!)

Who cares what's for dinner? We going to have strawberries! Laughing out loud

I'm making this yummy thing for tonight. Jam tomorrow...and we'll see what else as we go along.

I've got a pack of ground beef in the freezer than needs up so maybe we'll just have burgers for dinner. DH can grill them. Smiling

...all my favorite things in life are better served with strawberry sauce!

Lenora

That sounds good...

Mmm, strawberry jam. I should do that sometime this summer.

I haven't been very good about planning dinner lately--just too busy. Or poor time management, or both. Oh well.

Hi Lenora! Smiling

Hello!

Zillah's picture

Well, we had carcass risotto for supper! We get three carcasses to make stock from our local organic chicken place every Tuesday, and I usually find there's enough meat on them for a soup or risotto or veg heavy pie. Tonight's was very good - made with some of the stock, tiny broad beans, carrots, brown short-grain rice, basil and parmesan.

Must just think up a better name for it!

Zillah

Hi Girls!

Good to see you both!

We need to start a thread to catch up on all the kiddos. I bet they're getting big! (are there more?)

Zillah, you REALLY do need to rename that dish. I'm pretty comfortable with the origins of foods but "carcass risotto" is a bit much even for me! Laughing out loud

Dinner tonight:

Polish sausage with peppers and onions
buttered noodles (maybe with cabbage)
green beans
...Pound cake to go with whatever strawberries are left after making the jam!

That's the plan! Have a yummy day!

I have a moms-and-wine event this evening at a local winery so I'm trying to do something for dinner that can be done ahead...

On the other hand, these are (almost) all grown-ups, so maybe I'll let them fend for themselves. Usually when I do that, though...DH and DD 14.5 will look into a completely filled refrigerator and then go out for wings. Sigh.

Something quick here tonight

Sparrow's picture

Ha, yeah. "There's nothing to eat!"

Although here tonight that's almost true. We're getting a new sliding door installed tomorrow and I still have a lot of cleaning to do, so dinner will probably be frozen or takeout. Can't wait for the door, though! The old one has got to go!

Friday supper

Zillah's picture

Lenora, that wine evening sounds good, did you have a good time? Sparrow, hope that door slid in smoothly!

We're having puy lentil and ruby chard soup tonight. With . . . well . . . with something. Inspiration will strike, I am sure. Something to do with new potatoes. And green salad. Oh wait, what if we have not soup, but stewed lentils. Dressed chard. Green salad. New potatoes with crispy bits of salt pork and creme fraiche.

Thanks, guys!

Zillah

In which dinner is an afterthought...

Sparrow's picture

The door went beautifully, and is beautiful now! I can't tell you what an improvement it is over the other one. I'll have to post pics sometime soon!

I think I'm getting hungry just reading about your dinner, Zillah! I really have to get to the store sometime soon.

Monday!

Leftovers here! I made a delicious roast pork yesterday and there's plenty left over so that's what's for dinner. I'm having lunch with a girlfriend today and will probably over eat anyway! I REALLY need to pick some lettuces before vacation...my mesculan mix is still growing like crazy!

I'll be doing the big refrigerator purge tonight, since tomorrow is trash day. The girls are going to my mom's in the middle of the day tomorrow, so as long as there is something for their breakfast on Tuesday I'm good.

I hate to revive a thread and then run Smiling ...but I'm taking a vacation from cooking for the next two weeks!

Love to all!

Lenora

Pre-hol cooking

We are also about to go away, so very straightforward suppers round here.

Venison sausage casserole with bok choi and mash tonight, carcass (!) something tomorrow night, chicken wings the night after, with extras for the picnic on the train.

Happy holidays, Lenora!

See you in a fortnight Smiling

Zillah

Back at it!

lgunnoe's picture

I love vacations, but it is always so good to come home! We got home late last Thursday and I was cooking Friday evening!

Dinner tonight is something and salad. I picked over half-a-pound of lettuce on Friday from the garden and we're still eating that up.

I'm off to peruse the recipe sites for inspiration. I have tons of lettuce and a can of lump crabmeat....maybe crabcakes? I'll come back and let you know what I decide!

Have a great Monday!

Lenora

Chicken today!

lgunnoe's picture

It's so mild today that I have a big chicken and a pork shoulder roasting. I think I'm making chicken in tarragon cream sauce crepes for dinner. Going French in honor of Bastille Day! Green Salad (still using up my "vacation lettuce") and haricots vert (sp?).

I did end up making crab cakes yesterday...not bad. Wasn't thrilled with the sauce.

We're eating light to save room for movie treats since we're seeing Harry Potter at midnight!

Happy carcass day, Zillah! Eye-wink

Love to all,
Lenora
